This position is a permanent position working from our Head Office in Sittingbourne in Kent, albeit this role will involve travel outside of these geographic areas including the possibility of work in Europe and further afield.

The main focus of the role will be the involvement in a number of health and safety and food safety related projects. You will be expected to have a personal development plan, and committed to ongoing professional development, with the aim of becoming a full consultant with us.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • working as a key member of the team
  • supporting consultancy services
  • supporting training
  • policy and procedure development
  • contributing to the development of the business

We would expect that a suitable candidate will:

  • Be a high energy professional capable of influencing clients at all levels.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to establish credibility quickly.
  • Be equally comfortable working as part of a team on large projects, or lone working on individual projects.
  • Manage people and projects well, also able to plan and organise effectively making most efficient use of time and company resources.
  • Additional language skills would be desirable.
  • A sound understanding and ability to use IT systems (I.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Explorer) is essential

Required Qualifications

  • NEBOSH NGC1, NGC2 National General Certificate (Or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH NGC3 Fire Risk Assessment qualifications (Or equivalent)
  • PTLLs or Adult Training Qualification
  • First Aid at Work Qualification
  • Food Safety Qualifications (Level 3 or 4)
  • Additional language skills would be desirable.
  • A sound understanding and ability to use IT systems (I.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Explorer) is essential

You must not be afraid of hard work, and must have the determination to go that extra mile when needed. You must have a good understanding of moral and ethical values and your Integrity is paramount. You should have an excellent understanding of current legislation, guidance and technical information.

The main focus of the role will be the involvement in a number of fire safety related projects. You will be expected to have a personal development plan, and committed to ongoing professional.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as a key member of the team
  • Fire risk assessments on any premises
  • Review and validating other team members fire safety risk assessments to ensure that they are “Suitable and Sufficient”
  • Consultancy services
  • Training
  • Policy and procedure development
  • Dealing with enforcement agencies
  • Contributing to the development of the business

Accordingly, you must

  • Be aware of the broad range of methodologies of fire risk assessments available.
  • Be able to apply an appropriate methodology of fire risk assessment in respect of the premises to which the fire risk assessment relates.
  • Be able to identify fire hazards (both common and process) and the risks associated with those hazards.
  • Be able to apply an understanding of fire hazard and fire risk in the premises in context, to make an informed judgement on the appropriate level of fire precautions in the premises where the fire risk assessment is being carried out.
  • Be able to express fire risk for the client in such a manner as to provide at least, a broad comparison of the fire risk at different premises within a single estate of properties.

Skills/ Expertise:

  • An understanding of relevant current best fire safety practices in premises of the type in question;
  • An awareness of the limitations of your own experience and knowledge;
  • A willingness and ability to supplement existing experience and knowledge, when necessary, by obtaining external help and advice.
  • Formal qualifications and CPD which has been maintained and is commensurate with the above responsibilities is essential
  • Having a proven experience in a fire safety consultancy environment or be able to demonstrate commercial understanding of consultancy is essential
  • Being conversant with all relevant fire safety standards, in particular RRO, Fire (Scotland) Act, BS9999 and Approved Document B, British Standards, Technical Standards, HTM’s and SHTM’s, Guidance into Practise Documents, and be conversant with current health and safety legislation is essential
  • A sound understanding and ability to use IT systems (I.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Explorer) is essential
  • Confirmation that you are on, or have professional membership , or on a register of approved, competent fire risk assessors, is essential
  • Undertake work in the field of fire risk assessments and other consultancy type services.
  • Be a high energy professional capable of influencing clients at all levels.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to establish credibility quickly.
  • Be equally comfortable working as part of a team on large projects, or lone working on individual projects
  • Manage people and projects well, also able to plan and organise effectively making most efficient use of time and company resources
  • A formal Health and Safety and training qualification would also be

Additional language skills would be desirable
