With reference to haemostatic dressings and tourniquets (Zideman et al., 2015) state the following, “Use a haemostatic dressing when direct pressure cannot control severe external bleeding or the wound is in a position where direct pressure is not possible. Training is required to ensure the safe and effective application of these dressings”
The European Resuscitation Council issued guidelines in 2015 that have a direct impact on first aid training. As of the 31st December 2016 will be a requirement as part of the first aid training both in the emergency first aid at work course and the first aid at work course.
